Greater Bemidji Announces Expansion of 218 Relocate Program – Bemidji Pioneer
BEMIDJI – Greater Bemidji has announced the expansion of its 218 Relocate program, which will now include both telecommuters and new residents accepting employment with local businesses.
Launched in February 2021, the program was designed to encourage professionals interested in relocating to the Bemidji area through support and other incentives.
Originally designed to encourage remote workers to relocate to Bemidji due to the changing work environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program will now also support new residents accepting personal positions at local businesses.
Since its inception, 218 Relocate has recruited 45 teleworkers and their families to the Bemidji region. It now hopes to gain more from its expanded program.
“Those of us who live in Bemidji know it’s a wonderful place to call home,” Erin Echternach, associate director of Greater Bemidji, said in a press release to employees, the connections and experiences of headquartered companies bring outside of the region, or those relocating to work for employers in the Bemidji region.”
Through the partnership with 218 Relocate, newcomers to the Bemidji area can access the New Resident Relocation Program including:
- Complimentary access to the Community Concierge program that connects newcomers and their families to the community.

- Free access to community engagement and events.
- Annual Bemidji Chamber of Commerce Individual Membership valued at $75.
Additional benefits are available for remote workers in terms of internet access and online work.
In partnership with Paul Bunyan Communications and building on the success of the original 218 Relocate program, the Telecommuter Relocation Program includes:
