FAIRMONT – Martin County Commissioners heard from ISG’s Bob Mickelson on Tuesday who made a bid on the courthouse roof replacement project. An offer was received for the project, which included the replacement of two heating and cooling units. The bid was from Renaissance Roofing, Inc. for $ 1.8 million, with an alternative to swap insulation panels and cricket materials for a 9.1 percent reduction, bringing the total to $ 1.6 million .
“We only received one offer, so we didn’t have to go through an interview.” said Mickelson. He found that the offer was over budget and the commissioners ultimately chose to accept the offer while the roof units were excluded.
Mickelson also gave an update on the courthouse dome.
“At the moment we’re up at the foot of the lantern.” he said. “Things are going well, and I’ve been told it will be around the end of July when that is over there. Right now, with this lantern, you are probably in one of the areas of higher detail.
âThey started working on the eagles and they made 33 molds for the eagles and they have to stamp them four times. Each stamping likely involves four to five processes to heat and stamp the copper, as you can’t do all of this at once. The eagles may come a little later because they are trying very hard. “
In other measures, the board has:
– Approved the recruitment of Carter Davis and Jordan Slater as part-time seasonal MPs for water patrol.
– Approved hiring to fill a position as Head Communications Officer in the Martin County Sheriff’s Office due to JoAnn Russenberger’s retirement.
– Approved a Joint Powers Agreement between the Red Rock Rural Water System and Martin County and Brown, Cottonwood, Jackson, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Redwood and Watonwan Counties. The agreement will support the Red Rock Rural Water System with the construction of a new Great Bend Water Treatment Plant.
– Approved an application allowing the washing and painting of the Interstate Office’s store and cold stores for an amount of $ 47,350. That includes $ 35,150 for the main business and $ 12,200 for the cold store.
