D. Scott Brinkmann joins Butzel’s real estate practice in Detroit and Troy
Scott Brinkmann, former director of development and special projects for the City of Detroit’s Housing and Redevelopment Division, has joined the real estate practice of the Detroit law firm Butzel.
Brinkmann is a shareholder and will practice in the firm’s offices in Troy and Detroit.
His practice focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate and real estate-related finance with a focus on real estate development, acquisition, sale, leasing and financing.
“Scott is a respected attorney who has the skills, experience and attention to detail to navigate a wide range of commercial real estate matters,” said Tom Kabel, chairman of Butzel’s corporate and real estate practice practice and a member of the board of directors Office Directors. “Scott is a strong addition to the Butzel team. His expertise will complement several of our key practice areas.”
During his career with the City of Detroit, Brinkmann played critical roles in several transformative development projects, including Tri-Centennial State Park, now William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor; the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project; the expansion of FCA US’s expansion of its Mack 1, Mack 2 and Jefferson North automotive assembly plants; and more.
In 2016 Brinkmann was recognized as one of DBusiness 30 in Their Thirties Magazine for his legal work in the city of Detroit, Michigan.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his JD from Wayne State University School of Law.
